Description
This is walnut flooring built on solid bamboo, not walnut hardwood and not a printed look-alike. A steel roller presses the grain into the bamboo surface before the walnut stain and lacquer go on, so the texture you see is the texture you feel. The plank is bamboo through its full 15mm thickness with no plywood core, 5.11 inches wide, tongue & groove, Gloss 10 matte, 20 sq ft per case.If you want to go darker still, the carbonized coffee plank runs almost black; the bamboo flooring collection shows every tone side by side.

Walnut Flooring Profiles: Tongue and Groove Versus Click Lock
The two profiles answer different questions. Click lock joints are engineered to be taken apart, which makes them ideal for floating installations, rented accommodation and anyone laying a floor over a hard subfloor without wanting a permanent commitment.
Tongue and groove joints are engineered to stay put, and they are the traditional standard when a floor is being fixed down. If your priority is speed and reversibility, choose click lock. If your priority is a flatter, more permanent floor that will still be there in twenty years, tongue and groove is the stronger answer.

Why Fixed-Down Planks Tend to Outlast Floating Floors
A floating floor moves as a single sheet, which is perfectly stable in most homes but concentrates all seasonal movement at the perimeter of the room.
A fixed installation distributes that movement differently and keeps the field of the floor more consistently stable through the year. The practical consequences show up over time rather than on day one: fewer joint noises developing, better flatness retained in rooms with wide temperature swings, and a floor that generally ages more gracefully.
Gloss10 : Bright Enough to Lift a Room, Hard Enough to Keep
Gloss 10 sits in the middle of the reflectivity scale. It is clearly more reflective than a matte floor and considerably less mirror-like than a high gloss lacquer. In a room with limited natural light, that mid level finish lifts the whole space by carrying daylight across the floor. The coating is also wear resistant, which matters because a reflective surface shows wear more readily than a matte one. Dust with a microfibre mop, use a slightly damp cloth for marks, and the finish will keep its sheen for years. Why a low-sheen finish disperses light instead of reflecting it, and where low sheen is the right specification, is covered in the finishing guidance published by the National Wood Flooring Association.

The E1 Low-Emission Core and Indoor Air Quality
This flooring is manufactured to the E1 low emission standard. Adhesives and binders are the usual source of formaldehyde in engineered wood products, and E1 is the widely recognised threshold for safe interior use.
If anyone in your household has allergies, asthma or chemical sensitivities, this is a specification worth checking before you buy any wood based floor, not only this one. It is also worth asking about for nurseries and children’s bedrooms, where indoor air quality matters most.

Subfloor Preparation Before You Start
Preparation decides the outcome far more than technique does. The subfloor needs to be clean, dry and flat, with no more than around three millimetres of deviation across a two metre span.
Check for moisture, particularly over concrete slabs, and deal with squeaks or loose boards in an existing floor before you cover it up. Bring the planks into the room in their packaging and let them acclimatize for forty eight hours so the boards reach the temperature and humidity they will live in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this real walnut hardwood?
No. The plank is solid bamboo, stained and lacquered in a walnut tone. You get the walnut colour and a pressed wood grain on a plank that is denser than black walnut, which is one of the softer hardwoods and dents easily under a chair leg.
Is the walnut colour a stain or a print?
A stain, not a print. The grain pattern is pressed into the bamboo with a steel roller, then the walnut stain and the lacquer go on, so the colour sits in the same grooves that carry the texture. There is no printed decor film, and no clear wear layer to peel at an edge.
Is bamboo flooring waterproof?
No bamboo floor is waterproof. This one is water-resistant: 15mm solid bamboo with a lacquered face handles spills and a damp mop, but water standing at a seam will swell the core. Wipe spills, skip the flood mop, and keep it out of a wet shower zone.
Can solid bamboo flooring be refinished?
Yes. A 15mm solid plank has enough thickness to be sanded and recoated once or twice over its life. A laminate cannot be refinished at all, and a thin engineered veneer usually cannot be sanded more than once.
How durable is bamboo flooring?
It takes normal residential traffic without trouble, and the matte lacquer hides light scuffs better than a gloss finish does. It will still dent under a dropped tool or a bare chair leg, so felt pads under furniture are not optional.

This is a very high quality, well made flooring. You can tell just by picking up the packaging they’re not your average flooring because the box is so heavy. They’re easy to cut and easy to install and they look amazing.
