Description

Solid bamboo flooring is bamboo through the full thickness of the plank, not a bamboo veneer glued onto a plywood core. These prefinished 15mm planks are 5.11 inches wide, so each board shows more grain and the finished floor carries fewer joint lines. The tongue & groove profile can be fixed down or floated, and because the core is solid the surface can be sanded and refinished later. Each case of 14 planks covers 20 sq ft.

Bamboo flooring is usually sold in two forms: engineered bamboo, where a thin bamboo layer is bonded to a plywood core, and solid bamboo, which is bamboo all the way through. The difference shows up underfoot, at the moment moisture reaches the core, and in whether the floor can ever be refinished.

What Solid Bamboo Flooring Actually Means

Bamboo flooring is made in two main ways. Engineered bamboo is a decorative bamboo layer bonded to a plywood or fibreboard core. Solid bamboo is bamboo throughout the full thickness of the plank.

Light Honey is a warm mid tone with visible bamboo grain, lighter than carbonized amber and warmer than the palest natural bamboo.

Under warm 2700K bulbs it reads golden. Under neutral 4000K lighting it reads sandy and clean. It pairs comfortably with oak, walnut, white, grey and black furniture, which is unusual flexibility for a mid tone floor. Against dark cabinetry it gains contrast, and against pale walls it keeps a room feeling bright.

Everyday Cleaning

The surface reflects more light than a matte one, which also means it registers dust and marks more readily. The routine is short and takes a few minutes rather than an afternoon.

Dust or vacuum with a hard floor head every few days, then wipe with a damp microfibre cloth when something needs it. Use a pH neutral wood floor cleaner rather than an all purpose spray, avoid steam mops, and never let water pool along the joints of the floor.
